We’ve been very busy this month at our pop-up residency in Soho and it looks like food writers and the press are hearing about us too.
Recently Pepe’s Kitchen at The Sun and 13 Cantons was reviewed by Time Out and was rated 3 stars, the reviewers said:
‘With a roll-call of classic dishes such as pork cooked in coconut milk with chilli and garlic (Bicol Express) or oxtail and peanut stew (kare kare) all costing under a tenner, you can taste the Philippines without leaving the West End. The service is friendly and the food filling. Try this Soho pop-up before it’s gone’.
The Telegraph also featured us in their ‘London’s best new restaurant and bar openings’ round-up
Also look out for an article in The Sun’s Fabulous Magazine, which is out on Sunday 2nd February, plus a recipe from Pepe’s Kitchen in the ‘Ten Best’ section of The Guardian.
“Promising a taste of authentic Filipino cuisine, supperclub Pepe’s Kitchen has bedded down in this Soho pub for the month. Traditional dishes such as ukoy (prawn and beansprout fritters), kare-kare (a kind of deep-flavoured oxtail stew), bicol express (chill and coconut-laced fish stew) and lumpia (Filipino spring rolls) are all on the menu, along with equally authentic puds such as glutinous rice cooked in coconut milk and served wrapped in palm leaves. It’s the real deal made all the more intriguing by the relative lack of Filipino food in London.”
